Soon the dance of the bees will begin in nature and we will be there again!
Soon the time will come for another bee year. In 2024 PKT is once again committed to protecting species and environmental. For the past two years PKT has supported the beeswe.love project by sponsoring a bee colony and an extensive bee pasture, a natural meadow that provides a habitat for a variety of animals, insects and plants.
For a whole year, we will follow and care for our bees, understanding them better and learning more about the fragile cycles of nature that need to be protected. Our PKT colony is doing well at the moment, with very few winter losses. The queens are already busy laying new brood. This is the most exciting and energy-intensive phase until the colonies stabilise for the coming year.
At the moment the colonies are at their lowest level, using a lot of energy to prepare for the big growth. From mid-March till the summer solstice, the colonies will grow to around 60,000 bees. Their pollination work is essential to our nature and they collected the coveted “surplus” in form of honey for us.
By planting a perennial flowering area in our company, we have not only created food for insects and wild bees, but the admittedly wild looking area now provides shelter and survival space for many beneficial insects in winter. Courage for wilderness for our smallest but most valuable ecosystem service providers.
